because The website shows that there are 317 tasks in progress, I can't receive any tasks. Are you running both cpu and gpu tasks from MilkyWay? If so that could be the problem, Boinc thinks the cache is full and you already have enough tasks because you have 317, probably gpu, tasks. This has been a problem with Boinc for a very very long time and the only real answer is to crunch cpu projects for one Project and gpu tasks from a different Project. This is one of the reasons people get multiple pc's so they can run cpu tasks from MilkyWay on this pc and gpu tasks on a 2nd pc and both can run problem free. A second slightly more complicated option is to install Boinc a 2nd time on your pc, in a different location than the default one, and let one Boinc cpu tasks and the other one run gpu tasks, that way both caches stay full and your pc stays busy. |

because The website shows that there are 317 tasks in progress, I can't receive any tasks. I see tasks received and returned after the original post, currently 198 in progress (there are no CPU tasks at all and this host has never returned any, so it's running GPU-only I guess @mikey). So you must be getting some tasks sometimes, in large batches (the last one was 30 Nov 2022, 15:17:52 UTC with 120 tasks at once). This is typical here as far as I can tell, not an issue if you are not running out of work, otherwise increase your cache settings a bit (what are they?), you should be able to get up to 900 tasks IIRC. |

because The website shows that there are 317 tasks in progress, I can't receive any tasks. No, I only running gpu tasks from milkyway, Can this problem attribute to that I have 2 GPUs for computing Milkyway tasks? I know how to install 2nd boinc client at ubuntu system. But my computer use an USB wireless card, it doesn't have drivers for ubuntu. I don't know how to install 2nd boinc client at Windows 10. Can you tell me where I can find the method? Thanks |

because The website shows that there are 317 tasks in progress, I can't receive any tasks. Thank you for your reply, I set boinc cache 2days tasks from the outset, but there are at most 97tasks on my boinc manager. My computer have 2GPUs and each GPU can finish task in 1minute. In theory, I need 2880 tasks one day. I don't know why I only receive a few tasks. |

It doesn't have same problem when I ran Einstein@home before. |

I don't know how to install 2nd boinc client at Windows 10. Can you tell me where I can find the method? Thanks You don't install a 2nd client, you just run two instances of it. Check if that helps you, never tried it myself. Copy gui_rpc_auth.cfg from the 1st to the 2nd data dir, so you can easily switch between the two instances in BOINC Manager. But don't copy anything else, the client needs to create everything from scratch like it was a new computer. I set boinc cache 2days tasks from the outset, but there are at most 97tasks on my boinc manager. My computer have 2GPUs and each GPU can finish task in 1minute. In theory, I need 2880 tasks one day. I don't know why I only receive a few tasks. There is a limit of 900 tasks in progress per GPU (or per host?), so you can't get more than that. The Milkyway server is running close to it's limits, so many requests for new work end with 0 new tasks. Nothing you can do about it. One solution would be to run Einstein and Milkyway 50/50 or Einstein at least as backup project in case the two client solution doesn't work. |

because The website shows that there are 317 tasks in progress, I can't receive any tasks. You just click to load the program again just like you did the first time when you installed in Win10 but when it comes to the page asking if the default file locations are okay choose a different file location so you don't overwrite the one you already have. It would be easy to just add a 1 or a 2 at the end of each file location but there are no limits on where you want to put it other than disk space |
