I keep getting a message - "won't get new task. Will remove when tasks done". This was all working fine untiil last week. I was not doing GPU tasks and as far as I know never received any. I am actually seeing this on both computers. One is windows and the other is running linux. Both have the same message. Tried to do a search in the forums to see if there was a similar issue, but came up empty. Any Ideas? |

Forgot to add - I have just been reattaching to the project and it downloads more work.. Not the right way to do it, but it works! |

Forgot to add - I have just been reattaching to the project and it downloads more work.. Actually it probably was the right way as they changed the name back to the old name without the -new in it and now you should be able to get and return tasks again. MilkyWay no longer has any gpu tasks, they dropped them in the Summer because they had enough data to write the paper they were working on and didn't need them any more. there is talk of bringing them back again but that's all it seems to be at this point. |

But I have reattached 4 times on both computers. It pulls some work and then that message pops up. I don't have a graphics card on my linux device - it is just a nas server running truenas scale. It was working fine for a few weeks. I do not run GPU tasks and I was not a member when they were running them. Thanks for answering. |

Also what are your cache size settings? If they are too small that could be a problem if you are running other projects as well. |

Nothing super crazy - 2 projects - Disk usage set to 50GB of space. Do I need more. I think I just left it default from a while ago. I thought about reinstalling - but since it is the same on both computers has to be a setting or some other issue, |

I wouldn't think that at 2 projects you need more than 50gb, I'm attached to over 30 of them and am using only 64gb, you can check by going into the Boinc Manager and clicking 'Disk' at top top of the page and it will show you a graph of what Boinc is using as well as an easy to read and understand listing. If you are close to the 50gb range sure you can give it more but if you have plenty of free space now then unless you want to be attached to alot more projects then you should be okay with that setting. I was talking about the cache settings in the Boinc Manager under options, computing preferences and then the last line on the page where it says 'store at least____days' and then where it says 'store an additional____ days of work'. ie my settings are 1 in the first box and then 0.1 in the 2nd box. In theory this should keep 1 day of work plus a little more for each Project that i receive work from, in practice not all projects strictly follow those settings but it's much better than the default of 10 and 10 days or work. |

I am using 1 and 1 in those settings. I just reattached to the project again and I downloaded some tasks and have the message back again. Weird - not sure why it is running GPU computation? 12/16/2023 1:42:16 PM | Milkyway@home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 12/16/2023 1:42:16 PM | Milkyway@home | Requesting new tasks for CPU 12/16/2023 1:42:18 PM | Milkyway@home | Scheduler request completed: got 44 new tasks 12/16/2023 1:42:18 PM | Milkyway@home | Project requested delay of 91 seconds 12/16/2023 1:44:01 PM | | Resuming GPU computation 12/16/2023 1:46:05 PM | | Suspending GPU computation - computer is in use 12/16/2023 1:49:04 PM | | Resuming GPU computation 12/16/2023 3:32:15 PM | | Suspending computation - CPU is busy 12/16/2023 3:32:35 PM | | Resuming computation 12/16/2023 8:08:09 PM | | Suspending GPU computation - computer is in use 12/16/2023 8:08:16 PM | | Suspending computation - CPU is busy 12/16/2023 8:08:36 PM | | Resuming computation From the project properties: Credit User 51,190 total, 1,649.73 average Host 34,776 total, 1,238.53 average Scheduling Scheduling priority -0.94 Don't request tasks for AMD/ATI GPU Project has no apps for AMD/ATI GPU Last scheduler reply 12/16/2023 1:42:18 PM [/img] |

Weird - not sure why it is running GPU computation? It's not running GPU applications if you don't have any projects that can and are allowed to use your GPU. You can suspend GPU computing in the BOINC Manager or in the web preferences if you don't plan to use your GPU for crunching, that will remove the messages. Also disable "Suspend when non-BOINC CPU usage is above" to get rid of the "CPU is busy" messages. Regarding "won't get new task. Will remove when tasks done": I've never seen this message, post few lines around it from the log when it comes back. |

An issue with BAM! ? Looks like my projects are not connecting in there. I have not looked at that in a long time. I am turning that off in my clients and see if that helps. 12/15/2023 9:33:03 AM | | Using account manager BOINCstatsBAM! 12/15/2023 9:33:03 AM | Milkyway@home | URL http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/; Computer ID 1012351; resource share 100 12/15/2023 9:33:03 AM | World Community Grid | URL http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID 7758606; resource share 100 12/15/2023 9:33:03 AM | World Community Grid | Not using AMD/ATI GPU: project preferences 12/15/2023 9:33:03 AM | | Setting up GUI RPC socket 12/15/2023 9:33:03 AM | | Checking presence of 124 project files 12/15/2023 9:33:03 AM | | Suspending GPU computation - computer is in use 12/15/2023 9:33:03 AM | | Contacting account manager at https://bam.boincstats.com/ 12/15/2023 9:33:04 AM | | Account manager: BAM! You can attache to each Project on your own, and I believe more than a couple not on BAM's list, and control how and when your computer uses Boinc. |

Except in such szenario it's just an additional point of failure. |

It was set up from a long time ago. I removed it as I see no use in it. The message did not go away. Will see hwat happens after my work completes and it removes itself again.. lol Thanks for your help so far. |

Not sure what happened. Removed BAM - messed with computing preferences. Let the task run to completion. It removed the project again. I re-joined and everything is good now! |
