Hello, I'm trying to get an idea of what might be messed up with my BOINC client subsequent to a power blip/outage. When I update the project via the gui it just returns that the scheduler request is pending. Requested by user, communications deferred and a 24 hour countdown is started in the status section of the project. My belief is that I have something which wasn't cleaned up properly due to the way the client was shutdown and it is keeping the project from updating properly on my end. Any advice on what I should look for to figure this out is much appreciated. Thanks. |

Hello, In the Boinc Manager go to the list of your Projects and hi-lite MilkyWay then go to the left of that list and you will some things you can do that will most likely fix it, first since you don't have any tasks that's a good thing so click on RESET PROJECT, I know it's not capitalized but I want you to pick the right thing, once you click on reset Boinc will contact the Project and resend all the files you need to crunch and remove any files that you don't need. It might take about a minute or so depending on your internet speed and whether MilkyWay is busy or not. While you are waiting go up top in the Boinc Manager and click on Tools and then Event Log, that will show what's going on as the Project Resets and when it's done. After it's done you should have some new tasks to crunch. If you do NOT get any new tasks then the next thing is to click REMOVE being sure to hi-lite MilkyWay in the Projects list, that will totally remove MilkyWay from your pc. Again the Event Log will show when it's done and it will be gone from your Projects list along will all the files in the MilkyWay folder in the Projects folder on your pc. Once it's gone go up to the top of the Boinc Manager again and click Tools and then Add Project and scroll down to MilkyWay and add it back in again. You will have to click yes you a returning user and all the files MilkyWay needs will be downloaded again to your pc and again the Event Log will let you know when it's done and you should then have some tasks to crunch. Let us know how it works for you |
