This seems like old news to me. I have heard about this awhile ago. Possible this is just another source comfirming it. It is believed that every galaxy has to have a blackhole to exist. It is part of the cycle. I would suggest looking at Nasa for info as opposed to bbc. They has many puictures that are of higher quality. And/or subscribe to their emails. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

It is part of the cycle. I'm not sure what you heard a while ago, but this is a current news item based on results recently reported from the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Germany, as stated in the BBC article I provided a link to. Not everything comes from NASA, although the photo I reproduced did, as I stated below it. Beliefs are one thing, but results from research to confirm or otherwise another. |

I have seen or read a few times that the black hole was found ahile ago. Like I said they are just confirming it with their instruments again. I just watched a show on them this week titled 'Mega black holes'. Here is one of the shows that I have seen that specifically mention that: The Universe : The Milky Way http://www.history.com/minisite.do?content_type=mini_home&mini_id=54036 Since there is an infinite # of galaxies, it takes awhile to check each one for a black hole. Give them time. And better information does come from NASA or other like sources, not bbc. Some more quick searching: http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/mystery_monday_031124.html - November 2003 article date *edit The first solid evidence for a spinning stellar black hole emerged more than two years ago. Puts the info back into 2001, not counting how much longer it has been known. which says this is atleast 7 years old. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |
