Maybe someone could tell me exactly what we are suppose to be accomplishing here, as how I ended up here was a website called makeuseof.com was saying you could help with the war on cancer by letting these projects use your computer, but after I signed up, I never could find any of the cancer projects, so I ended up here???? Could someone please explain what all of this is about, I am just a simple fellow trying to help, thank you. |

If it's cancer you're crunching, you'd probably be better off crunching World Community Grid. From that project you can crunch to aid in the fight for...... [*]The Clean Energy Project [*]Nutritious Rice for the World [*]Help Conquer Cancer [*]Discovering Dengue Drugs – Together [*]Human Proteome Folding - Phase 2 Project [*]FightAIDS@Home Project

A few things as a precaution about WCG, it exists a bit longer or as long as BOINC, and the standards are not always the same. For example:
[*] The layout is grown in a different way, not that easy to find your way around. [*] It's more secure. they use an SSL server for communication [*] There are two distinct point/credit measures, the original points and BOINC credits, which are simply 1/7 of the points

I agree that the forums are tough to navigate. But I don't have the problem with a Dune Finkleberry that a Bryan might. The point system is weird, though I don't really care as long as my work goes to some good. Which all are excellent projects. :D |

Which all are excellent projects. :D Bryan is more a name of clan, not a person ;) I wondered, that Saenger was still possible those three years ago as I joined, it's plain singer in German. Dune Finkleberry is quite unique as well. And regarding credits: especially HCC is the one that gives at least what's claimed, some projects don't seem to fit my penguin ;) Grüße vom Sänger |

Maybe someone could tell me exactly what we are suppose to be accomplishing here Dunno, I been tinkering about with it all for over ten years and I havent found out either. But then I discovered Carolyn's Clinic, and some years later, this. Now I feel I dont have to bother working out what its accomplishing. |
